4 Things To Do In Chicago This Summer!
You know it’s officially summertime in Chicago when you see boats sailing on Lake Michigan, the beaches packed with people, patio and outdoor seating for restaurants, and Michigan Avenue full of tourists holding shopping bags. I believe we can all agree that Summertime Chi trumps everything. Why? Because we Chicagoans don’t take for granted the warm, beautiful weather. We have endured long winters and unpredictable weather conditions for too long, and because of that, we take full advantage of every summer! The list of things to do in Chicago is truly endless, and it’d definitely be a challenge to do everything in one summer! Here are 4 of our favorite things to do in Chicago this summer!
One of the four things to do in Chicago is ditch the public transportation & bike around the city! Biking along Lakeshore Trail is definitely something you should experience once in your lifetime! Biking allows you to see the city from a different lenses. What’s also great about biking around is that you’re able to go at your own pace and check out the sights you want to see. If you don’t have a bike, no problem! There’s lots of places where you can rent bikes, and there’s also Divvy bike stations all around the city for your convenience!
Do Some Gardening
Embrace mother nature and do some gardening! Out of the four things to do in Chicago, this activity has got to be the one that makes the most out of the gorgeous weather. Gardening is such a great way to spend time outdoors and help out our environment. Fashion Blogger Allie Barke of Allie’s Fashion Alley recently did some volunteer work with Global Garden Refugee Training Farm and truly enjoyed the experience! Allie talks more about her experience in one of her recent blog posts, Mrs. Meyers Plant Something Day.

The Lincoln Park Zoo is another fun thing to do in Chicago this summer! First off, admission is free! So, this activity is a total money-saver! You’ll be able to spend as much time as you’d like, roaming around the zoo and checking out interesting animals. What’s also great about Lincoln Park Zoo is that it has a great view of the Chicago skyline and other beautiful landscapes, which is perfect for the impromptu photoshoot. If you’re into photography, then the Lincoln Park Zoo is a perfect place to shoots some beautiful photos!
Have A Beach Day
Another one of the four things to do in Chicago is to have a beach day! Soak up the sun, take a swim in the lake, throw around the football, or just hang out and relax with your friends at the beach. What I love about Chicago is that there’s a handful of different beaches to hang out at. If you’re all about meeting new people, Oak Street Beach and North Avenue Beach are perfect for you! Both of those beaches are always full of people and they have cute restaurants and bars and shops where you can rent bikes, paddle boards, and much more! If you’re all about relaxing and want a calm beach day, I personally love going to Montrose Beach because not many people go there!
